Justin Bieber Surprise Announces ‘Swag II’

He released his seventh album, Swag, in July

Justin Bieber has announced a follow-up to his July album Swag, titled Swag II. It will be released tonight at midnight.

Bieber’s surprise announcement was made on his Instagram page on Thursday. Mimicking the rollout for Swag, he shared a carousel of images of buildings with the title Swag II projected on the sides of them, as well as several billboards. He then revealed the album cover, all pink with nothing but the title on it. Some of the digital billboards also feature a picture of Bieber with his wife, Hailey, and their son.

And if he is indeed following his past playbook, Bieber will slowly unveil more information about the album via Instagram as the day progresses. He has not yet revealed the track listing or features.

Bieber similarly dropped his July album Swag with little notice. His seventh album featured production from Dijon, Mk.gee, and Carter Lang, among others. Dijon, Sexyy Red, Cash Cobain, Eddie Benjamin, Marvin Winans, Gunna, Lil B and Druski all appear on the LP, which features Bieber celebrating his family life and all the ups and downs that come with it. Swag debuted at Number Two on the Billboard 200, ending his six-album streak of topping the charts. Even so, it was still the biggest streaming week of his career, landing nearly 200 million on-demand streams that week. Lead single “Daisies” also debuted at Number Two on the Hot 100.

Swag was Bieber’s first album in four years. He had been dealing with a series of career and personal woes in the time since dropping Justice, including a Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis that forced him to halt then entirely cancel his last tour. He also parted ways with longtime manager Scooter Braun, who discovered Bieber on YouTube when he was a kid.
