Justin Bieber and Usher reportedly clashed at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscars after-party

Justin Bieber and Usher reportedly got into an altercation while attending Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s Oscars after-party last weekend.

The 98th Academy Awards took place in Hollywood on Sunday (March 15), and later that night, Beyoncé and Jay-Z hosted one of the most high-profile and exclusive events after the ceremony ended at the Chateau Marmont, as they have done since 2018.

Two of the big names in attendance were Bieber and Usher, and TMZ reported that there was an incident between the two. Usher reportedly approached Bieber with “energy and anger”, leading to a “heated exchange” that some even suggested resulted in a fist fight between the two artists.

TMZ were clear that no authorities were involved and there has been no confirmation from either artist’s camp about an altercation.

Other celebrities at the same after-party included Oscar winners Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler, as well as Timothée Chalamet, Emma Stone, Jacob Elordi, Austin Butler, Megan Fox and Emma Watson, with reports that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce also snuck in.

Usher and Bieber’s relationship goes back a long way – with the ‘Yeah!’ star entering into a partnership with Scooter Braun in 2008 to sign Bieber to their joint label Raymond Braun Media Group.

They later collaborated on tracks like ‘First Dance’ and the ‘Somebody To Love’ remix, with Usher continuing to serve as a mentor.

Bieber reportedly declined an offer to appear during Usher’s 2024 Super Bowl halftime show and he unfollowed Usher on social media the following year, suggesting that there had been a divergence between the two.

In other news, Bieber performed in his boxer shorts at the Grammys last month, singing ‘Yukon’ from his recent album ‘SWAG’. It was his first Grammys appearance since 2012 and it prompted some strong reactions from fans.

In a three-star review of ‘SWAG’, NME wrote: “It’s frustrating because there’s plenty of great material scattered across these two parts, which would be far stronger as a single, shorter release. Put bluntly, you have to wonder: did this really need to be a double album?”

As for Usher, since the Super Bowl show, he released his concert film Rendezvous, followed by his latest album ‘Coming Home’, which featured collaborations with Summer Walker, 21 Savage, H.E.R., BTS’s Jungkook, Burna Boy, Latto and more.
