Jonas Brothers Are Returning to Their Disney Roots With a New Christmas Movie

The band will follow Nick, Joe, and Kevin as they try to make it from London to New York in time for Christmas

The holiday season may be well in the rearview, but that’s no reason to think it’s too early to start planning for next December. The Jonas Brothers — fresh off their own big New Year’s Eve performance — are doing just that, announcing that they’ll return to Disney for a new Christmas movie, set to arrive later this year, Variety reports.

According to a log-line, the film will boast a very classic home-for-Christmas plot, following brothers Nick, Joe, and Kevin as they “face a series of obstacles as they struggle to make it from London to New York” in time for the big holiday.

The band announced the film (which has a working title of “Jonas Brothers Christmas Movie”) in a cheeky 40-second video spoofing the famous cards on the doorstep scene from Love Actually. It opens with the trio appearing at someone’s door holding a big card that says, “Hi, we’re the Jonas Brothers” — which Joe speaks out loud, prompting Nick to chastise him: “Don’t say it! The whole point is you don’t say it. You let them read.”

On take two, the brothers properly get their message across, which states, “Sorry to bother you. But we’re making a Christmas movie. Coming out this holiday season. Only on Disney+.”

No other casting decisions for the film have been announced yet. It will be directed by Jessica Yu, with a script from Isaac Attacker and Elizabeth Berger. And, of course, there will be music, with Grammy-winning songwriter Justin Tranter set to write several original songs for the project.

Along with prepping their Christmas movie, the Jonas Brothers appear to be gearing up for a big tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary (they formed in 2005). The homepage of the band’s website currently boasts a countdown ticker that suggests an announcement could be arriving on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Fans can register to stay up-to-date on tour developments, as well.
