Jon Batiste is ready to bring his new music on the road. On Thursday, the prolific musician announced a 33-date North American The Big Money Tour this fall to celebrate his forthcoming album.
“At the heart of what I’m about is representing the cultural music I come from and taking responsibility to push it forward,” Batiste said in a press release of his Louisiana roots. “That’s jazz. That’s blues. That’s soul. That’s country and gospel music—forms born from people coming together, improvising in real time, and expressing something deeper.
He added: “I can’t wait to channel that energy live every night—it’s where the music hits its truest form.”
Batiste will commence his run in Kansas City in late August, before making his way to Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Northern California, Nebraska, Nashville, Orlando, and Detroit, before wrapping the run on Halloween in Washington, D.C. Tickets will be available through artist presale on Friday, May 16 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by local presales on Monday, May 19. General public on-sale begins Tuesday, May 20 at 10 a.m.
According to a press release, Batiste’s show will feature multiple acts that display “Batiste’s roots, his evolution, and the movement he’s building through music.” The tour will feature songs from his catalog along with new material that he’ll perform live for the first time. Batiste describes the show as a “creative church. The tour is named after an upcoming song that he’ll debut on the road.
“We’re living in a complicated time, and music has this incredible ability to reframe what we’re feeling, to help us keep going,” he said in a press release. “These shows are meant to be healing, liberating, and unforgettable.”
The tour announcement comes three months after he released a two-track song pack called “My United State,” featuring “Star-Spangled Batiste Blues” and “Notes From My Future Self.” The musician also dropped his album New Orleans Collection that month as well.
