The singer-songwriter and former Smiths guitarist will take to the stage at Manchester amphitheatre Castlefield Bowl for a special homecoming performance on Thursday July 9.

It marks Marr’s first UK live gig announcement for 2026. According to a press release, the date will coincide with “a major year of exciting new activity” from the musician.

He’ll be joined at Castlefield Bowl by special guests Everything Everything. The event forms part of the venue’s Sounds Of The City series.

“It’s going to be a special one,” Marr wrote to announce the forthcoming concert on social media today (Monday October 13).

Tickets go on general sale at 10am BST this Friday (October 17) – you’ll be able to buy yours here. Alternatively, fans can access a pre-sale at the same time on Wednesday (15) by signing up here.

Marr’s fourth and latest studio LP, ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1–4’, arrived in 2022. In a four-star review, NME wrote:  “This album is the work of a man with no time for big cash reunions or the squabbling that prevents them. Instead, he has turned in a record fuelled by soul and new ideas.”

He is set to embark on his 2025 European headline tour next week. Over the summer, Marr played a pair of small warm-up gigs in Southampton and Sheffield ahead of his performance at Forever Now Festival in Milton Keynes – where he also reunited with his former The The bandmate Matt Johnson. Marr has since performed a run of dates in the US.

Marr recently released a new live album, ‘Look Out Live!’. The project comprises 22 tracks recorded at the Eventim Apollo in London last year as part of his ‘Spirit Power’ tour.

Meanwhile, Marr has recorded four new songs with Gorillaz for their upcoming album ‘The Mountain’, and made an appearance at the band’s show in London. He also teamed with Franz Ferdinand for a new version of their track ‘Build It Up’ and joined The Black Keys live on stage at Shaky Knees 2025 last month.

In other news, Johnny Marr has accused shipping company UPS of losing his guitars.
