John C. Reilly Is a Hopeless Romantic in New ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’ Video

The actor is releasing a special cover of the 1930 standard on silver opaque vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday

Mister Romantic, John C. Reilly‘s vaudevillian alter-ego, is back just in time for Record Store Day Black Friday. He’ll release the special seven-inch record Dream a Little Dream of Me, via Third Man.

Pressed on silver opaque vinyl, the limited-edition record features his cover of the 1930 standard of the same name, as well as the B-side “Paper Moon.” Check out the charming video for “Dream a Little Dream of Me” below, which was shot by Gilbert Trejo.

Nodding to silent films of the early 20th century, the clip finds Reilly, as Mister Romantic, outside a big victorian house, trying to make a grand gesture to someone inside. He leaves a bouquet of flowers at the door and lingers on the sidewalk, dancing and gazing up at the window, until he finally waves goodbye and wanders away.

Reilly previously collaborated with Third Man last summer, when he appeared in Jack White’s video for “Archbishop Harold Holmes.” He released What’s Not to Love?, his debut as Mister Romantic, earlier this year. “I looked at our weary world a few years ago and tried to think of a way I could spread love and empathy,” he said in a statement, upon announcing the album. “I decided the most fun way to do that was through performing and singing and telling people I loved them.”

Reilly toured behind the record, including a three-night residency at New York’s Cafe Carlyle in June 2025. On Dec. 4, he’ll kick off a four-night stand at Chicago’s The Downstairs Theatre at Steppenwolf, followed by two evenings at Houston’s Hobby Center in April 2026.
