Jessie J shares health update after breast cancer surgery

Jessie J has shared a health update with fans after undergoing surgery for breast cancer.

The BRIT Award winner announced the sad news that she had been diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer earlier this month, and told fans that she would be taking some time out to seek treatment.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding onto the word ‘early’,” she said. “I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period. I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough – I’m not processing it, because I’m working so hard.

“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me, with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. I’m an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much – similar and worse. That’s the bit that kills me.”

Now, she has revealed that she has undergone surgery and is resting at home awaiting her results.

“This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours,” she wrote on Instagram. “I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through. Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit.”

“I am home now, to rest and wait for my results,” she continued, before sharing: “Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!”

Other famous faces have taken to the comment section to share their support for the singer. Musician and television host Rochelle Humes wrote, “SO proud of you! You’re made of strong stuff my girl,” while her husband Marvin Humes added: “I know Sky will be keeping you smiling and giving you strength… You’re an absolute warrior.” The mention of ‘Sky’ refers to the son Jessie and her partner, basketball player Chanan Colman, welcomed in May 2023.

TV presenter Gaby Roslin also took to the comments section and wrote: “Sending you strength, energy and so much love you beautiful soul.”

Jessie J announced to fans that she would be having the surgical procedure after her show at the Summertime Ball 2025, which was held at Wembley Stadium on June 15. She also played an intimate, acoustic show at the Union Chapel in the capital last month.

This autumn, the singer is still scheduled to embark on her UK and European ‘No Secrets’ tour, which includes a night at the London Palladium.

The candid discussion about her surgery comes as, last July, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Before then, she had experienced several health issues, including a miscarriage in late 2021, going deaf in one ear and being temporarily unable to walk properly in 2020, and suffering a stroke at the age of 18.
