Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have finalised their divorce

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck‘s divorce is now official.

Per documents obtained by PEOPLE Magazine, the couple are officially divorced as of January 6, after a judge approved of Lopez’s filing for a dissolution of marriage in August.

Billboard adds that the two agreed on terms of the divorce settlement in September, and that neither will have to pay spousal support and equally split the cost of legal fees. They have also come to terms to split assets and finances, though details remain private. Lopez will also drop Ben Affleck’s last name and will revert to being known as Jennifer Lopez.

Speaking to PEOPLE after the divorce was made official, an unnamed source said that Lopez “is in a really good place and just wants to close the door on this crazy chapter”, adding that “the fairy tale she was promised turned out to be a nightmare in the end.”

Lopez and Affleck eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022 and held a conventional ceremony for family and friends on August 20, 2022. Exactly two years later, Lopez filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and listed April 26 as their date of separation.

This now marks the second time Lopez and Affleck have separated, with the pair getting engaged in 2002 before splitting in 2004. After they got back together in 2022, their relationship was documented in part when Lopez shared the documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told in February 2024.

The news of their separation came after Affleck purchased a new $20.5million (£17.5million) “bachelor pad” mansion in Pacific Palisades on the day of Lopez’s 55th birthday in July. Days before, the pair listed their Beverly Hills mansion for $68million (£52.1million).
