Jelly Roll on his battle with food addiction: “It’s like an avalanche”

Jelly Roll has opened up about his weight loss journey and his battle with food addiction.

The singer and rapper opened up about losing 110 Lbs and counting in a new interview with People magazine in which he candidly discussed the origins of his food issues.

“The battle was with the food addiction, changing the way I’ve looked at food for the last 39 years,” he shared.

He continued: “I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the hard part. But once you get into that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was on its way.

“Nobody in my house ever had (a healthy relationship with food), so that was the hard part, really fighting that demon at first and getting into that discipline and that commitment.”

Jelly Roll began a health and fitness journey earlier this year and has revealed that he has lost 110 lbs. He has continued and adjust his lifestyle as a way to maintain momentum in his weight loss journey. Playing basketball is something he has implemented in his daily life and shared that it has helped both his physical and mental health.

“It’s cool because there was once a time in life that the culture I built on tour was the opposite. It revolved around alcohol and drugs,” he told the outlet. “And now our tour culture is around good eating and around exercising and doing emotional check-ins with our crew every day.”

In other news, Jelly Roll was recently announced as the opening support for Post Malone on his ‘The Big Ass Stadium Tour’.

Elsewhere, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson opened up about the impact one of Jelly Roll‘s song had on him during a rough mental health patch. The actor said he had discovered the ‘Need a Favor’ singer’s work when he was “going through a hard time”.

“That really moved me and touched me,” he said of the lyrics. “We got in contact with each other and I told him what it meant to me. We didn’t know each other but became really good friends. That’s my boy, and I love that guy.”
