Jason Derulo has opened up about the time he broke his neck and revealed that the injury had him fearing for his life.
The singer recently appeared as a guest on the Great Company Podcast and discussed the neck injury he obtained back in 2013 while practising his dance more for his Future History World Tour which ended up being cancelled. Derulo ended up falling on his head and broke a vertebra.
“I was preparing for my tour and I was working on these back tucks for stamina. So, we’re doing back-to-backs, we would stop for a while, take a break, and we’ll do like 20, back-to-back and I slipped on one and I bailed,” he told host Jamie Laing.
He continued: “You’re never supposed to bail, even if you slip, you’re supposed to keep going. I bailed (and) fell on my head and I heard a crack and I was just like, ‘Oh shit!’”
Derulo went on to describe the sensation he felt after falling and said: “I felt a huge heat in my neck and I was just thinking in my head like, ‘Damn, what just happened? Did my life just end?’”
The ‘In My Head’ hitmaker was then rushed to the emergency room by his mother and revealed how he didn’t want to worry her. “I’m sitting in the passenger side and every single bump that (my mum is) going on is like hell on earth, I’ve never felt so many bumps in my life,” he recalled.
Elsewhere, Derulo previously received gifts from animal rights organisation PETA after he announced that he was cancelling his SeaWorld performance last year.
Back in 2023, the singer was accused of signing a singer to a record deal and expecting sex in a harassment lawsuit.
