Jamie xx has announced a 10th anniversary edition of his debut solo album ‘In Colour’. Find all the details below.
The musician, producer, DJ and member of The xx released the original version of the record exactly a decade ago today (May 29). He followed it up last year with his long-awaited second LP, ‘In Waves’.
NME gave ‘In Colour’ a glowing 9/10 review, hailing the “euphoric” project as “an album defined by its creator making perfect choices”.
10 years on, Jamie xx – real name James Smith – has shared details of a limited edition 10th anniversary picture disc. The new reissue features the iconic cover artwork on the vinyl itself.
Jamie xx’s ‘In Colour – 10 Year Anniversary Picture Disc’ is due for release on November 14 via Young. You can pre-order it here, and see the preview image in the announcement post below.
The classic album contains the singles ‘Loud Places’ (featuring Romy), ‘Gosh’ and ‘I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)’ (feat. Young Thug and Popcaan).
‘In Colour’ reached Number Three in the UK, was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, earned a nomination for Album Of The Year at the BRITs, and was up for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the Grammys.
Speaking to NME in 2015 about his attempt to achieve perfection on the LP, Jamie xx explained: “I still feel like I could do stuff to it, but I would just be driving myself insane. I need to not listen to it for a while and come back to it, and then I’ll be happy.”
Meanwhile, the artist is due to headline the inaugural LIDO Festival at Victoria Park in east London on June 7. He has curated the line-up himself, enlisting the likes of his xx bandmate Romy, as well as Panda Bear, John Glacier, Arca, Sampha, DJ Gigola, Shy One and Wookie.
More names were recently added to the bill, including Nia Archives and Shy FX. A Skrillex B2B set with Jamie xx has since been confirmed for next month’s event.
The producer and DJ’s 2025 live schedule also includes slots at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, among other European festivals and North American dates over the summer.
Earlier this year, The xx told fans that they were back “in the studio” working on new music. The trio’s third and latest album, ‘I See You’, was released in 2017.
