Jack White “enthralled” by Nine Inch Nails show: “Very inspiring”

Jack White has praised Nine Inch Nails‘ current tour, saying he was “enthralled” by the show after seeing them live.

The soloist and former White Stripes frontman caught NIN’s ‘Peel It Back’ trek in Nashville, Tennessee, last Saturday (September 6). He attended the gig with his wife, Olivia Jean, and his Dead Weather bandmate Alison Mosshart.

White later took to social media to share a photo of himself with NIN frontman Trent Reznor backstage, and another image with Jean and Mosshart “in the thick of it” in the audience.

In the caption, he wrote: “I was enthralled to attend the NIN show in Nashville yesterday with family and friends, not only for the intense and beautiful music but the best lighting that I’ve ever seen in a show.”

White went on to describe the gig as “very inspiring”, adding: “Folks should look closely for the copy of a copy of a copy projection work when you attend. Respect to Reznor. First Photo from L to R: HI-REZ to LO-FI.”

White will be joining Nine Inch Nails in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this year, with The White Stripes set to be inducted at a ceremony in Los Angeles this November.

NIN kicked off the North American leg of their ‘Peel It Back’ tour in Oakland, California on August 6. The show saw the return of Josh Freese on drums – replacing Ilan Rubin in the line-up – after he parted ways with Foo Fighters.

NIN have been performing heavier hits at the main stage, and playing acoustic versions and remixes at a smaller ‘B-Stage’ in the middle of the crowd on the ‘Peel It Back’ tour. The first gig included the live debut of ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ from the Tron: Ares soundtrack.

NME caught Nine Inch Nails’ set in Madrid this summer, writing: “Judging by their Mad Cool headline set, there is no question that the group won’t be meticulously maintaining their legacy over the next few decades.

“From the exquisite visuals (which, even in their calmest moments, still blow some of the biggest names out of the water) to their effortless on-stage rapport and the sheer quality of their live sound, this sensational outing is vintage Nails. Welcome back, guys. We’ve missed you.”

Meanwhile, Nine Inch Nails have also announced details of Future Ruins, a festival designed to celebrate film and TV composers. On the line-up are Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Cristobal Tapia de Veer, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, as well as Reznor and Atticus Ross.

In other news, Jack White has reportedly sold a portion of his back catalogue to Sony Music for an unknown price. His latest solo album, ‘No Name’, was released last summer, ahead of a UK and European tour this summer.
