Jack White attended a Cubs vs Dodgers baseball game alongside Bill Murray, wearing a jersey gifted to him by Eddie Vedder.

The former White Stripes frontman was attending the game in Tokyo, Japan, where he recently played two shows as part of his current world tour.

During his penultimate Japanese concert, Vedder joined him on stage for a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’, during the show’s encore.

It seems that following the gig, the Pearl Jam frontman gifted White a vintage Cubs jersey, which he wore to attend the game. When arriving at the Tokyo Dome stadium in said jersey, he realised he’d been seated next to Murray.

White shared his thoughts on the strange scenario on Instagram yesterday (March 18), writing: “You know what it’s like when you go to see an MLB game between the Cubs and the Dodgers in Tokyo, Japan wearing a game worn Cubs jersey from the year you were born (’75) with your favourite number on it that Eddie Vedder gifted you before the game and you walk to your seat and realise that Bill Murray is by the randomness of the universe sitting next to you to watch that game. You know that feeling right?”

He also shared a carousel of photos from the game. Check them out below.

Now he’s wrapped up the Japan leg of his tour, White will head back to North America for further dates. The US run kicks off in St. Louis on April 3 and will see him make stops in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and more. You can find a full list of dates here and any remaining tickets here.

The tour follows the surprise release of White’s most recent album ‘No Name’ back in August. The album scored a four-star review from NME‘s Andrew Trendell, who wrote: “This is an ode to the mystique of rock’n’roll and to the joy of music at its most physical and playful.

“Teasing doesn’t always lead to satisfaction. Just cut to the chase – and this one’s a bone-rattling ride. White’s revelling in the real world and has made it a much more thrilling place.”

Elsewhere, The White Stripes recently announced a 20th-anniversary reissue of their fifth album ‘Get Behind Me Satan’, featuring songwriting demos, alternate studio takes and live versions.

As for Vedder, Pearl Jam have announced their 2025 US tour dates in support of new album ‘Dark Matter’. The shows kick off in Florida on April 24. Find out more here.

Meanwhile, earlier this month Murray addressed rumours that he had been dating Kelis.
