Late last month, the Colombian pop star held a seven-hour concert in Medellín, and recently discussed how taxing the lengthy show was to undertake. During a livestream with popular streamer Ibai, Balvin said he was “still recovering”.

“Normally, we go through moments as artists where you want to do concerts for your ego, but in this case, I focused on giving the people a show,” he said in the recent interview. “At one point [of] the concert, I started to feel like I couldn’t see anymore.

“I mean, you’re in the middle of a 360 stage, and I was only seeing everything as black, and I was talking through the intercom. The people outside can’t hear you, but your work team can hear you. So I was like, ‘Hey, I’m getting dizzy. I can’t see. I’m pale.’

“And there was a moment when, while I was singing, I put my hand on my face. I was completely frozen.”

He went on to claim that when a doctor eventually checked his pulse, it was 190 beats per minute. “So, when Yandel came on [stage], I came off. The doctor took my pulse, it was 190 beats per minute, I mean, I was on the verge of a heart attack,” he said. The typical resting heart rate for adults is between 60 and 100 beats per minute, with his result indicating intense exertion and a possible medical episode.

He recalled being examined with his mother close by. “She said, ‘My son, you have to stop the concert, you’re not going to die here,’” he said. He went on to say he ate six frozen desserts to get himself back to a baseline level.

“I still can’t get over it, to be honest,” he said.

Per Consequence, the seven-hour ‘Made in Medellín: Ciudad Primavera’ concert ran until 3:00 a.m. local time, and saw Balvin perform nearly 80 tracks. He was joined by the likes of Daddy Yankee, Maluma, 50 Cent, DJ Snake, Reykon, and others.
