Fans think a Nicki Minaj and FKA Twigs collaboration is on the way after they revealed they’d been in the studio together.

Last night (November 23) Minaj shared a clip of the two artists in the studio, alongside the caption: “That one time I randomly tried to direct my 1st short film 🎥 with the gorgeous & iconic QUEEN @fkatwigs. 🇬🇧♥️👑”

It’s not clear if this is for either of the artists’ upcoming projects, with Twigs set to release ‘Eusexua’, the long-awaited follow-up to 2019’s ‘Magdalene’ on January 24 2025 via Young (available for pre-order here).

Meanwhile, Minaj is gearing up to release her sixth studio album ‘Pink Friday 2 – The Hiatus’, which is set to arrive on December 13.

Either way, fans have been reacting on social media, with one writing: “i have no idea how nicki minaj x fka twigs is gonna sound but im VERY seated,” and another adding: “Nicki minaj and fka twigs most unexpected link up in history omg……………”

So far, FKA Twigs has shared three tastes of ‘Eusexua’. In September she dropped the album’s title track, which came alongside a Jordan Hemingway-directed music video, shortly followed by ‘Perfect Strangers’, which featured cameos from Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Yves Tumor.

Last week, she shared the avant-garde single ‘Drums Of Death’ featuring Koreless.

As aforementioned, ‘Eusexua’ will come as FKA Twigs’ first album since ‘Magdalene’, although the artist has gone on to share other music since then. In 2022 she shared the mixtape ‘Caprisongs’, and earlier this year, she dropped new material via the Two Shell duet, ‘Talk To Me’.

A press release defines ‘Eusexua’ as “a state of being. A feeling of momentary transcendence often evoked by art, music, sex, and unity. Eusexua can be followed by a state of bliss and feelings of limitless possibility. Also used to refer to: ‘The pinnacle of Human Experience’.”

The first single arrived after the former recipient of the Godlike Genius gong started to tease her new album on Discord, saying that while the songs won’t be techno tracks, they were inspired by a trip to Prague where she “fell in love” with the genre.

Late last year, she also confirmed that she was writing the album from scratch again after a hacker leaked dozens of demos.

While receiving her BandLab NME Award in 2022, the artist also told us about what to expect from new material, explaining that she was looking to expand her sound going forward, but in a way that meant she didn’t lose sight of her roots.

“It’s not going to change my ethos. I only make music that I want to make. But I don’t want to stay the same – that’s the kiss of death for an artist, a sidestep into nothingness. I always want to learn more and keep growing,” she said.

Meanwhile, ahead of the release of ‘Pink Friday 2 – The Haitus’, Minaj has also shared a special expanded edition of her third studio album ‘The Pinkprint’ to celebrate its 10th anniversary, adding four new songs to the tracklist.
