IDLES confirm special guests for homecoming Bristol Block Party – including The Voidz and Soft Play

IDLES have announced the special guests for their homecoming Bristol Block Party, a two-night festival in August.

In November, the punk band revealed plans for the event, which will see them take over Queen Square on August 1 and 2, the first mass live music concerts at the site in over two decades. Find any remaining tickets here.

Now, the full line-ups have been unveiled for both nights. Friday’s bill will feature Kent punk duo Soft Play, Brighton noiseniks Lambrini Girls and dubstep DJ and producer Sicaria.

On Saturday, they will be joined by The Voidz, the band led by The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas, as well as Spanish group Hinds, Bristol’s own Grove and Club Yeke founder Tash LC.

IDLES have also promised that the line-ups will be rounded out by a range of local DJs, with food and drink provided by a selection of local producers.

Speaking about the event, Daniel Ealam and Scott O’Neill of promoters Communion ONE said: “We cannot wait to bring this event to Queen Square. It’s a space that’s right at the heart of the city which already brings some unforgettable communal experiences to the community and partnering with IDLES, a band that embodies the spirit and resilience of Bristol, makes this even more significant for us.”

“We love Bristol and everything that it represents so it’s important to us that we curate a new event with the people and the fans at the forefront. And let’s face it, Bristol in the summer – you just can’t beat it.”

IDLES released their fifth and latest studio album, ‘Tangk’, in February. In a four-star review, NME described the record as “an adventure into pastures new”.

Bristol Block Party will be IDLES’ only UK shows of 2025, but it is still set to be a busy year on the road for IDLES, with appearances announced for Shaky Knees in Atlanta, Rock For People in Czechia and Primavera Sound in Barcelona.

They will also be opening for My Chemical Romance at a show in Boston in September.
