Ice Cube’s ‘War of the Worlds’ Named Worst Picture at 2026 Razzie Awards: Full ‘Winners’ List

War of the Worlds, the 2025 sci-fi film starring Ice Cube, was bestowed the ‘honor’ of worst picture of the year in the 2026 Razzie Awards, it was announced Friday (March 13). Worst picture was just one of five award categories in which the picture placed first, after being nominated in six of them.

Besides the worst picture of the year recognition, War of the Worlds lead Ice Cube was named worst actor, while director Rich Lee earned worst director. The movie was also the choice for the worst prequel, remake, rip-off or sequel award — plus worst screenplay (Kenny Golde, Marc Hyman).

The Razzies, short for the Golden Raspberry Awards, recognized War of the Worlds as “a cult hate-watch classic almost immediately,” The Hollywood Reporter shared on Saturday.

Organizers for the Razzies noted, “War of the Worlds (the 2025 version) has been cemented in Razzie history as a near sweeper of our $4.97 trophy winner.” They added, “Utterly destroying H.G. Wells’ classic novel, director Rich Lee (maybe inspired by Ed Wood) chose a goofy gimmick, hack dialogue and a particularly hilarious performance by its lead, Ice Cube, to seize 2025’s biggest number of statues.”

Additional winners at this year’s awards include “all seven artificial dwarfs” from Disney’s live-action Snow White, who collectively achieved the worst supporting actors and worst screen combo honors. (“It cost a fortune and lost a fortune, perhaps cursed by Walt [Disney] himself for having ignored his dying wish for it never to be remade,” Razzies organizers said of the 2025 adaptation.)

On a more positive note: Kate Hudson achieved the 2026 Razzie Redeemer Award for her Oscar-nominated portrayal of Claire Sardina in the Song Sung Blue. She delivered a “pitch-perfect performance” in the movie, organizers said, after receiving less flattering distinctions by the Razzies in previous years for several past film roles.

Awards are voted on online, with 1,223 Razzie members making their picks.
