Ibiza Rocks issue statement and pause events after two people fall to their deaths at hotel

Ibiza Rocks have issued a statement and paused events following two people falling to their deaths.

A 19-year-old British man died at the hotel at 12:40am this morning (July 21) after falling from a third-floor balcony. Two ambulances reportedly arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, per the Daily Express.

It comes two weeks after 26-year-old Scottish tourist Evan Thomson also fell to his death at the hotel.

Now, Ibiza Rocks have issued a statement, saying they are “deeply shocked and devastated” by the incidents.

“Our priority is to support those affected and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and to fully assist the authorities with their investigations,” the statement continued. “The safety and wellbeing of our guests has, and always will remain, our highest priority.”

The statement added that “given the seriousness of the situation and out of respect for those involved”, the advertised events programme would be paused. Customers will be informed directly via email.

Thomson’s mother, Lel Kellighan, broke the news of his death on social media, writing: “I’m absolutely heartbroken to write and tell you all, earlier this week my son Evan was in a tragic accident whilst on holiday with his friends in Ibiza and sadly passed away.”

The hotel includes a 2500-capacity open-air venue, and hosts annual pool parties and festivals, previously featuring the likes of Stormzy’s #MERKY festival, Craig David, Becky Hill, Joel Corry, MK and BBC Radio 1’s Ibiza Weekend.

On July 23 and 30, the hotel had plans to celebrate their 20th anniversary, with Dizzee Rascal and Rudimental set to headline. It’s not clear if these events will continue to go ahead.
