Hit-Boy’s studio broken into, so he penned freestyle for thieves

Hit-Boy got security footage of his studio being broken into over the weekend and, in response, he dropped a freestyle aimed at the thieves.

The Grammy-winning hip-hop producer revealed that he got an alert on his phone over the weekend, notifying him that a group of would-be thieves had broken into his studio. Luckily, they were unable to obtain anything of value, and security cameras were located around the room, able to capture them in the act.

Now, the producer has shared the security footage from the break-in, explained what happened, and hit out at the hapless criminals in a new freestyle.

Posted to X/Twitter, the hip-hop star shared a video which saw him overlay the footage from the attempted robbery with a video of him wearing his diamonds and holding his Grammy Awards. “This morning around 4am some idiots broke into my office/studio and went through a hassle just to get next to nothing,” he wrote in the caption.

“I had my Grammys there and I know they wanted my jewels, but not today, champions FOH,” he added. “I did a freestyle called ‘Crow Bars’ watching the footage of these low [lives] going through my shit smh.”

In the freestyle, Hit-Boy explains how he got the news of the robbery when his phone notified him of movement in the studio, and how he knew the criminals were most likely looking for something they could sell quickly, but were unable to locate anything of value.

I’m right here with all my ice, all my Grammys/ Get the fuck out of here,” he raps. “Me and my son lie down on the couch. Phone buzz, leave a text like ‘what’s up with these clowns?’/ Office studio hit third time in two years, twice at the old spot now they bring that shit over here.”

He continued: “10 n****s, crowbars, kicked the frame off the door/ flip the couches all over the floor/ walk past three Grammys sitting on the wall/ Didn’t touch nothing of worth, got blindfolds on them in that search/ They wanted ice cash, something they could pawn quick/ got some gloves and trash bags, that’s it.”

Back in 2023, Hit-Boy continued his run of collaboration with Nas when the latter confirmed the surprise release of his new album, ‘Magic 3’. Made as the follow-up to ‘Magic 2’, which dropped earlier that year, the third instalment of the series coincided with Nas’ 50th birthday.

That record was the finale of Nas’ prolific four-year collaboration with Hit-Boy. “I want to thank everyone for taking this ride with @hitboy & I. It’s been nothing short of Magical [sic],” Nas said at the time.

Hit-Boy worked with Nas on both the ‘Magic’ and ‘King’s Disease’ trilogy; in the four-star review of ‘King’s Disease’, NME said Hit-Boy’s production “gets everything right”. That same album also earned Nas his first Grammy award after being nominated 14 times during his career.
