Earlier this month, South Korean media outlets reported that BLACKPINK were plotting to release a new EP later this year. At the time, YG Entertainment put out a simple response saying that official updates will come from the label at a later date.

Now, YG Entertainment’s founder Yang Hyun Suk has shared an update on the matter and more in a YG Announcement video on YouTube. Besides shedding new light on BLACKPINK’s next material, he also spoke about other groups like TREASURE and BABYMONSTER.

Addressing BLACKPINK’s next release, he revealed that the group are currently in the process of working on a new EP, and that while a firm release date has yet to be locked in, the label hopes to release the project in November “at the latest”.

Yang Hyun Suk’s full address on BLACKPINK was: “A lot of fans are curious about BLACKPINK’s album. I know that the BLACKPINK members and producers in charge of them are working very hard preparing the album. I’m hoping for BLACKPINK’s album to be out by November, at the latest. That’s what I’m pushing for – we’ll do our best to get BLACKPINK’s album out soon.

The upcoming mini-album will be their first since the 2019 EP ‘Kill This Love’. It’ll also be their first collection of material since the 2022 album ‘Born Pink’.

They most recently debuted the single ‘Jump’, which was co-produced by Diplo. Following the release of ‘Born Pink’ and the completion of its accompanying tour, the group went on a year-long hiatus and returned with a new tour in early July.

BLACKPINK have just wrapped up a tour of Europe and the UK, which included two shows at the Wembley Stadium. At the shows in Wembley Stadium, BLACKPINK’s Rosé took shots with FKA Twigs in a backstage segment, while the group covered Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’.

The ‘Deadline’ tour resumes in Asia throughout October and December, including stops in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines and Hong Kong.

The ongoing stadium tour from BLACKPINK mark their first headline run of dates since their record-breaking ‘Born Pink World Tour’, which ran between 2022 and 2023. Those shows also saw the group reach new heights as it was soon certified as the highest-grossing tour by a girl group – drawing over 1.8million fans.

Since BLACKPINK’s last album – 2022’s ‘Born Pink’ – all four members have explored solo careers, including albums by Jennie, Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo. Additionally, Lisa made her acting debut in HBO’s The White Lotus season three.
