‘Heated Rivalry’ soundtrack hits streaming

Surprise smash hit TV series Heated Rivalry has brought its soundtrack to streaming.

The Canadian queer sports romance premiered back in November for US audiences, and it’s now airing in the UK on Sky and NOW TV, with the first two episodes having premiered on January 10 and the full six-episode run streaming currently.

Created, written and directed by Jacob Tierney, (Letterkenny), the show is based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers books, and follows two rival professional ice hockey players, Canadian Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Russian Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), whose on-ice friction conceals a passionate, secret romance.

There are extensive needle drops throughout its six episodes, including tracks from Wet Leg, Feist, Wolf Parade and t.A.T.u. You can check out the full list of songs heard in the show here.

Now fans, can access the original series soundtrack. Shared via Milan Records yesterday (January 16), the 34-track project features original music by Canadian artist and composer Peter Peter written for the series.

Marking Peter Peter’s debut scoring effort, the soundtrack is available via all streaming services and as a digital download for purchase here. CD and vinyl editions of the album are expected to be released later this year.

The show has been a breakout hit, earning widespread critical acclaim, sitting on a 99 per cent critics rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. It initially aired on the Canadian streaming service Crave, before being picked up by HBO, and it quickly became HBO Max’s top debut for an acquired, non-animated titled since the platform launched in 2019. It has already been renewed for a second season.
