Hayley Williams has shared a 12-minute documentary about the making of ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’ – watch below.
The Paramore frontwoman first shared her third solo album on her official website last July as surprise project named ‘Ego’, before releasing it onto streaming platforms the following month, with a physical release coming a few weeks later.
Yesterday (February 1), Williams shared a behind-the-scenes documentary film that shows fans the process of the making of the album.
It shows Williams discussing the mixing of the songs with producers Daniel James and Jim-E Stack, laying down vocals and guitar parts in isolation, working through Chaka Khan-inspired basslines with James.
It also shows the moment that multi-instrumentalist Steph Marziano suggests that ‘Parachute’ should include a percussive sound reminiscent of Radiohead’s ‘Reckoner’.

The release marked Williams’ first new music since she became an independent artist when her record deal with Warner/Atlantic ended.
NME gave the record a glowing five-star review, which read: “As with almost every era of Hayley Williams’ career, this new release has come with questions about the future of Paramore. The determined lyrics on the tender ‘I Won’t Quit On You’ should be all the reassurance worried fans need, but if that’s not enough, there’s plenty in this brilliant, swaggering new chapter to be excited about. These songs might be about missed second chances, but Williams is certainly making the most of hers.”
It also went on to be named as the ninth best album of the year in NME’s end of year list.
She is set to head out on a world tour next month, taking in dates in North America, Europe and the UK. It begins in Atlanta on March 27 and will see her playing two dates each in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin in June. See all of the dates here and find any remaining UK tickets here.
Last week, Williams launched a new band called Power Snatch with Daniel James, and they have already dropped three new singles.
