Hayley Williams has revealed that Paramore have begun working on new music.
The artist said that the band are already tinkering with new sounds which may end up on their follow-up to 2023’s ‘This Is Why’.
In an interview with Dork, Williams said that, before they headed out on tour with Taylor Swift, they recorded some demos that “really surprised” her, with particular influence taken from the Bjork-fronted band The Sugarcubes.
They also spent time in Clouds Hill studio in Hamburg during their days off on tour and began toying with an idea that “felt like it was on the other side of the tracks to what we’d been working on at home,” according to Williams. “But that excites me,” she added.
Williams added that there was the potential for another solo record to follow up 2020’s ‘Petals For Armor’ and 2021’s ‘Flowers for Vases/Descansos’.
“Paramore has always been the thing that I want to do the most, and I get really passionate and protective of it,” Williams said. She did, however, have a shift in mind-set after seeing that releasing solo music didn’t affect the band’s operation. “I don’t feel done with that at all,” she said.
In other news, Paramore recently teamed up with fashion designer Bug Girl for a merch collaboration to benefit Medical Aid for Palestinians.
In a video posted to Instagram, Bug Girl said that she had met the band when they were opening for Taylor Swift on the ‘Eras’ tour. Frontwoman Hayley Williams had been seen wearing a version of Bug Girl’s ‘feminine rage’ t-shirt, which features a photo of a younger Taylor Swift. Williams had cut the t-shirt and stitched it into a jacket, which she wore on stage, and tagged the brand owner in a photo posted after the show.
In other news, Paramore recently reflected on their time opening for Swift on the ‘Eras’ tour.
“Thank you for asking us to be a part of such an incredible moment in your life and career,” they said on social media. “We loved playing for the Swifties, we loved watching you tell your life story through this show. And we truly fell in love with your whole crew. Congrats on one more leg of this giant, history making tour. We love you! – Paramore,” read the photo’s accompanying caption.”
