Styles briefly crashed Gosling’s monologue last night (March 7), prompting Gosling to joke that he was distracting the audience.

“Is that Harry Styles?” asked Gosling after seeing him in the crowd, before the camera cut to the former One Direction star as he waved from his place in the audience. He explained that he was there ahead of next week’s show, in which he’s set to double up as host and musical guest.

“It’s been a while,” said Styles, who hosted previously in 2019. “So I just wanted to watch and get a feel for it.”

SNL’s sketch poked fun at Styles, with Gosling joking as the camera cut back to him that his “coolness is becoming a bit of an issue,” the show then displaying a split-screen of the pair, with Gosling pleading for the camera to stop cutting back to the singer. It then came out that the member of the crew operating the camera was a big Styles fan – watch the monologue here.

Styles’ appearance came the day after the release of his fourth album, ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally’.

NME gave the album a positive four-star review, describing it as “the most exploratory album of his career so far, trying out new things and steering his ship in new directions.”

“Lead single ‘Aperture’ set the tone with its LCD Soundsystem-inspired electronic build, and the rest of the album largely follows suit – with some surprise deviations along the way,” it read.

“But, very occasionally, there are things that don’t quite hit the target. ‘American Girls’ is fun but easily forgettable when held up against the rest of the tracklist, and the acoustic moment of penultimate song ‘Paint By Numbers’ is a little jarring between ‘Dance No More’ and the gorgeous synth soar of ‘Carla’s Song’. As Styles has shown us, though, even life’s blips have value, and these instances can’t stop his fourth album from feeling like a triumph.”

The same day as the album came out, Styles played it in full at Manchester’s Co-op Live, marking his first full show in almost three years, a week after he gave  ‘Aperture’ its live debut in the same building to open the BRITs 2026 the previous weekend.

The performance was filmed by Netflix for a new concert film, Harry Styles. One Night In Manchester., out today. Fans were strictly banned from capturing any footage of the gig, and were made to secure their phones in a recyclable bag that obscured the camera. Upon entry, ticketholders picked up free disposable cameras so that they could still document “special moments and share them after the show”. He also gifted 50 free tickets to the show to pupils from his old school.

Styles has his huge ‘Together, Together’ series of residencies coming up, which boasts a record-breaking 12-night stint at London’s Wembley Stadium – find remaining tickets here – as well as a 30-date residency in New York City. You can find remaining tickets here.
