The LA sister trio are currently gearing up for their fourth studio album ‘I Quit’, which is due for release on June 20 via Polydor (pre-order/pre-save here). So far, the record has been previewed by the tracks ‘Relationships’, ‘Everybody’s Trying To Figure Me Out’, ‘Down To Be Wrong’ and ‘Take Me Back’.

In the lead-up to the new album, the sister trio of Alana, Danielle and Este have spoken to GQ on a myriad of topics, including why they believe the rock community isn’t willing to embrace them. Referencing clips of them dancing onstage while performing ‘I Know Alone’, Alana said: “That’s where it gets lost in the sauce with people.”

Danielle and Este back her up, suggesting that the rock community isn’t keen on Haim being goofy and dancing. “Even though we’re a rock band, we love movement,” said Danielle, while Este chimed in: “Prince danced”. Alana doubled down: “I mean, Talking Heads—movement.”

Danielle goes on to explain that dancing and having fun onstage is “such an important part for” Haim, “I don’t know if the rock community…”. Alana interjects to finish Danielle’s sentence: “Takes that as a weakness. I don’t know why.”

The group also made sure to call out the countless men criticising them. Referencing people who think they don’t perform live because their guitars aren’t plugged into amps with long, running cables, Este said: “It’s always a guy.” Danielle added: “It’s like, my dog, we’re playing with wireless. Are you a fucking idiot?”

Alana continued: “It goes back to what we said. We love to dance and we love to make people laugh, and for some reason that’s a no-go.” “I think it’s all quite antiquated,” added Este, “The whole setup is… who gives a shit about that? It’s really old school. We quit caring about that shit.”

Haim made their live return with a hometown show in LA in late April. Here, they debuted another new track called ‘Blood On The Street’, featuring a guest appearance from Addison Rae.

Last month, the trio played at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool. Haim are also due to perform at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Porto this summer, and headline Margate’s Dreamland next month.

They have announced the North American and UK legs of their 2025 ‘I Quit’ arena tour too, with the latter scheduled to include a show at London’s O2. Find any remaining tickets here (UK) and here (North America).
