Haim‘s first album in five years, I Quit, drops June 20, and the sister act just announced they’ll be taking it on the road this fall in the U.S., Canada, and U.K. The band played tracks from the album live for the first time last week at the L.A. club the Bellwether, with Addison Rae dancing onstage during the soulful “Blood on the Street,” which includes a bluesy guitar solo by Danielle Haim. The band also premiered “Down to Be Wrong,” which Rolling Stone recently described as “a slow-burning rocker of supreme self-preservation.”
The tour, dubbed the I Quit tour, will kick off in June in the U.K. with a single show before coming stateside in September. The trek will run through October.
The new album, co-produced by Danielle Haim and Rostam Batmanglij, arrives after a series of singles that also included “Relationships” (with a Drew Starkey-starring video) and “Everybody’s Trying to Figure Me Out.” Both singles were accompanied by the band’s viral recreations of iconic 2000s paparazzi photos. The latter song “has gotten me through some hard times,” Danielle wrote, “and we felt this might be of some use to get our vibes right for this summer… After a lot of reflecting I realized I’ve let a lot of people try and tell me how I should live my life, but I realized in making everyone else happy, I lost myself.”
I Quit‘s cover was shot by their longtime collaborator, director Paul Thomas Anderson. Alana Haim recently said the new album is “the closest we’ve ever gotten to how we wanted to sound.
An artist pre-sale for the tour starts May 1, with general sales beginning May 2.
