Green Day, Mariah Carey, Brad Paisley Set for American Music Awards’ 50th Anniversary Special

Stray Kids, Raye, Kane Brown, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan and more also set for October 6 special

Green Day, Mariah Carey, Brad Paisley, Raye, and Stray Kids are among the artists who will take the stage to help the American Music Awards celebrate its 50th anniversary next month.

Gladys Knight, Kane Brown, Chaka Khan, and Jennifer Hudson are also among the first slate of performers for the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary special. Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Kimmel, and Gloria Estefan are also set to appear on the October 6 live special on CBS.

The AMAs also shared some details about what some of the artists have in store, with performances featuring both new takes on classic songs as well as recent singles. Paisley, for instance, will deliver both a tribute to the late Charley Pride along with performing his new single.

Knight, who took the stage at the first AMAs back in 1974, will deliver an “encore performance” of “Midnight Train to Georgia,” while Khan will sing her anthem “I’m Every Woman.” Carey will perform a medley of her own hits, Stray Kids will stage “a special performance honoring the legacy of Boy Bands at the American Music Awards,” and Raye will take on James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”

Additionally, Hudson will honor Whitney Houston, and Brown will perform a medley of his hits.

While the AMAs has assembled an all-star 50th anniversary special, the award show itself — which hasn’t been broadcast since 2022 — won’t return to the airwaves until May 2025.
