Gorillaz to Celebrate 25th Anniversary With London Concert Series and New Exhibition

Gorillaz have some big plans lined up for its forthcoming silver anniversary as a band.

The Damon Albarn-formed act will celebrate the milestone with four special standalone live shows at east London’s Copper Box Arena, set to take place on Aug. 29, 30 and Sept. 2, 3.

The series will coincide with the opening of a special exhibition entitled House Of Kong, which will offer visitors access to the virtual band’s headquarters while documenting their history since their formation and first single “Tomorrow Comes Today” in 2000.

According to a press release, the experience will chronicle the journey of members bassist Murdoc Niccals, singer 2D, drummer Russel Hobbs, and guitarist Noodle through their musical innovations. Watch its official trailer below.

House of Kong exhibition ticket holders will have exclusive presale access to the Copper Box Arena dates. Tickets for the former are available now via the official Gorillaz website, with prices starting at £25 ($33.50). Further information on the live shows, alongside ticketing details, will be released soon.

In March, frontman Albarn confirmed to French publication Les Inrockuptibles that a new Gorillaz album is on the way, while discussing his new opera The Magic Flute II: La Malédiction, alongside his plans for the rest of the year.

“I’m finishing a new Gorillaz album,” Albarn explained. “One opera and one new Gorillaz album seems like enough for 2025! Unless someone accuses me of taking my foot off the gas!”

Albarn’s Gorillaz collaborator Jamie Hewlett reportedly confirmed the news, with an Instagram account focused on the band sharing a DM from the musician in which he stated, “Yes, the new album is coming out this year.” That same post also noted that Albarn confirmed that the record would be completed in “6 more weeks.”

Gorillaz hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2023 with their most recent record, Cracker Island. The album also soared to the summit of the Official U.K. Albums Chart, marking the pioneering band’s first British chart-topper since Demon Days in 2005.
