Going to the polls: see US artists and actors voting in the Presidential election

Today (November 5) US citizens have been lining up to cast their vote in the Presidential election – and artists and actors, including Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Mark Ruffalo and Olivia Rodrigo, are among them.

While some voted early, millions are heading to the polls to choose between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, as well as a few other third-party or independent candidates, to become the 47th president of the United States.

Actors and artists are sharing photos of themselves casting their votes in this election on social media. Katy Perry posted a picture of her filling in her ballot for Kamala Harris, alongside a picture of her dog sporting an “I voted” sticker on its head.

Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo posted a photo on her Instagram story with a “I voted” sticker stuck to her own forehead. In July the ‘Drivers License’ singer shared her support for Harris over her stance on reproductive rights.

Check out the social media posts of some other artists and actors who cast their votes in the US election, including The Flaming Lips‘ Wayne Coyne, Fiona Apple, Anne Hathaway, Lady Gaga, Zoë Kravitz and more.

Many high-profile actors, artists and musicians have publicly endorsed both candidates in the run-up to the election. Beyoncé spoke at a Democratic Rally on Reproductive Rights last month, Billie Eilish approved her song ‘When the Party’s Over’ for a Democrat advert on reproductive care, and  the cast of Marvel’s Avengers, including Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Don Cheadle, reunited to endorse Harris in an Instagram clip.

Elsewhere, Lady Gaga performed at Harris‘ rally in Philadelphia, Michael Stipe and Jon Bon Jovi performed R.E.M.’s ‘The One I Love’ at her rally in Georgia, and Bruce Springsteen starred in an ad for the Democrat candidate.

Others to officially endorse Harris include Madonna, St. Vincent, Jennifer Lopez, Charli XCX, Joni Mitchell, Chappell Roan, Cher, Lizzo, Eminem, Usher, P!nk, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bad Bunny, Bon Iver, Quavo, Mumford & Sons, GloRilla and Finneas.

Trump’s high-profile backers include Kid Rock, Kelsey Grammer, Kanye West, and Hulk Hogan.
