Gibson teams up with Merc to launch limited edition mod-inspired merch collection

Gibson has joined forces with British apparel label Merc to create a limited edition run of mod-inspired merchandise. Check out the collection below.

The iconic guitar brand has joined with the company for the new Merc x Gibson Capsule Collection, which is exclusively available at London’s Gibson Garage for a limited period.

Designed with the aim of highlighting the strong connection between music and fashion, the range comprises five pieces. These are the ‘Legend Harrington Jacket’, the ‘Luthier Polo Shirt’, a ‘Bridge Hooded Sweatshirt’, a ‘Riff T-Shirt’, and a ‘Tone’ T-shirt’.

“Merc is excited to collaborate with Gibson and we are proud to present a capsule collection that embodies the essence and celebrates the rich heritage of both brands,” Sas Alavi, Managing Director at Merc, said in a new statement. “The range has been meticulously designed to seamlessly blend the aesthetics of Merc and Gibson while appealing to modern sensibilities, creating pieces that resonate with both style enthusiasts and guitar lovers alike.”

The range has also been announced with the help of rising punk-rock group Kid Kapichi, who were chosen as they are “a natural fit when choosing an artist that embodies the punk rock lifestyle in 2025 and to showcase the capsule collection”.

Kid Kapichi, along with Blue Stragglers, were in attendance at the Gibson Garage on Eastcastle Street earlier this week to launch the new range, and each delivered performances at the store.

“It’s a pleasure to be working closely with two iconic brands. As time has gone on, we’ve naturally fallen more into the laps of Gibson guitars as I think their sound is unrivalled for the music we create,” said Kid Kapichi. “So, to work with them on multiple projects is such an honour.

“It was an easy decision to say ‘yes’ when we were asked to work with the new collaboration. Merc have always lovingly recreated beautiful items from the 60’s era. One that is strongly connected with music and bands we’ve all loved our entire lives. We’ve been influenced by these bands and the clothing goes hand in hand with that too.”

The Gibson Garage in London opened its doors for the first time last February, with the help of Jimmy Page, Brian May and Tony Iommi.

It is inspired by the Nashville flagship branch and has over 300 guitars for sale, as well as a live music space downstairs and a made-to-measure counter for ordering bespoke, custom guitars.

NME attended the first preview of the store, where Led Zeppelin icon Jimmy Page was in attendance and shared a new collaboration with the brand – launching a replica of his iconic 1971 Doubleneck.

More recently, Queen‘s Brian May headed back to the venue this month when he teamed up with the manufacturer to launch a brand-new limited edition 12-string acoustic guitar.

“The idea for this guitar came when I needed a 12-string on tour, and the one I was accustomed to wasn’t performing right on stage,” he explained. “If you look at this guitar, the beauty of it, and the beauty of the sound, and look at the science in this guitar, look how much technology and craftsmanship has gone into this guitar. Gibson was able to put the universe on it in a figurative way and the planet Mercury is here, and that is a little nod to a friend of mine that is always with me.”
