Fucked Up to livestream 24 hour recording session special

Fucked Up are set to host a 24-hour recording session livestream special.

The Canadian hardcore punk band announced yesterday (July 31) that the livestream will take place from August 6, 1pm EST to August 7, 1pm EST – days before the release of their seventh album ‘Another Day’.

The session will see the band attempt to write, record and mix new music from scratch. “It’s been a long time since we did something this stupid, but trying to promote an album is inherently stupid so there you go,” the band writes in an Instagram post.

They also note that this session will mark the first time in 15 years that all five members will spend time together in the studio “writing and recording music, fucking around”. The last time resulted in their breakthrough 2008 album ‘The Chemistry of Common Life’.

Fucked Up note in a press statement that for all their albums since then – from 2011’s ‘David Comes to Life’ to 2018’s ‘Dose Your Dreams’ – the band has been working together remotely.

“Who will crack first? Tune in to find out who this is actually going to be an intervention for,” the band writes, tongue-in-cheek. The session will be streamed on the band’s YouTube and Instagram pages.

For the band’s upcoming album ‘Another Day’, along with its predecessor, 2023’s ‘One Day’, their regular production arrangements were dialled up to an extreme – all five members were tasked not only to record in their own studios, but to do so within a strict deadline of 24 hours.

Later this year, Fucked Up will be touring Canada and the UK in support of ‘Another Day’. See tour dates below.
