The star’s debut album – originally released digitally and on CD – arrived in 2012 and featured the tracks ‘Super Rich Kids’, ‘Pyramids’, and ‘Bad Religion’. The album topped Best Album polls that year, as is largely considered one of the most sought-after vinyls of that era.

Then, in 2019, Ocean was interviewed by the likes of Rosalía, John Waters, and Nile Rodgers, and was asked by the latter when the Grammy-winning record would finally be available to buy on vinyl, to which Ocean succinctly replied: “ASAP.”

Since then, fans have been left to resort to buying unofficial and bootleg releases as the vinyl never arrived – until now, some 13 years later.

Available here on Ocean’s Blonded storefront, a gatefold 2xLP edition of ‘Channel Orange’ is out now, featuring alternate cover art and retailing for $69, plus shipping. “Please allow 4-6 weeks for fulfilment,” the page reads. However, as noted by Stereogum, the vinyl does not include the John Mayer-featuring ‘White’.

Since the release of Ocean’s last LP ‘Blonde’ in 2016, just a handful of singles including ‘DHL’ and ‘In My Room’ have arrived. Ocean also shared previously unreleased music to soundtrack his radio show celebrating the ten-year anniversary of 2012’s ‘Channel Orange’ back in July last year and also dropped ‘Cayendo’ and ‘Dear April’ on streaming services in 2023, with the tracks previously being vinyl exclusives.

Ocean also teased potential new music on his Instagram stories in 2023. The ‘Nikes’ singer took to his Instagram Stories to post a minute-long snippet of a new, unreleased song.

Prior to the teases, Ocean headlined the first weekend of Coachella 2023, but was forced to cancel his appearance for the second weekend due to injury. He was replaced by Skrillex, Fred Again.. and Four Tet. It was his first live performance since 2017.

In other Frank Ocean news, in January, it was revealed that his directorial debut will star Industry actor David Jonsson. The film, which is currently untitled, has begun shooting in Mexico City, according to a report from Variety. The plot is currently under wraps.

More recently, listeners speculated the singer is teasing a return to music. Fan theorising began after an Instagram account, believed to be a private one – or a “finsta”, as known by the app’s users – belonging to the artist was discovered by fans.
