The shooting took place early on Tuesday morning (October 15), according to a statement shared by a representative for the guitarist to Rolling Stone. While it’s unclear how many times Lee was shot, the rep told Rolling Stone that he is due to make a “full recovery”.

Little to no information was shared about the incident, other than that local authorities are investigating the incident and that they believe the shooting was “completely random”.

The statement reads: “Lee is fully conscious and doing well in an intensive care unit at a Las Vegas hospital. He is expected to fully recover. Las Vegas authorities believe the shooting was completely random and occurred while Lee took his dog out for a walk in the early morning hours. As the incident is under police investigation, no further comments will be forthcoming. Lee and his family appreciate respecting their privacy at this time.”

A spokesperson for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department also confirmed to Rolling Stone that “no arrests have been made at this time”.

Ozzy Osbourne has since reacted to the news of Lee being shot, telling TMZ: “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be OK.”

Jake E. Lee was part of Ozzy Osbourne’s solo band between 1982 and 1987, during which he recorded two albums with the Price of Darkness and going on several tours. After departing from Osbourne’s project, Lee has served as a guitarist in several bands, as well as his own solo projects.

In other news, it was recently announced that actor and Tenacious D frontman Jack Black will be inducting the ‘Crazy Train’ singer into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this year. It will mark the second time Osbourne is inducted, with the first time being for his work as a member of Black Sabbath back in 2006.

A tribute in honour of the singer’s solo career will also be taking place with the likes of Billy Idol, Tool‘s Maynard James Keenan, and country artist Jelly Roll performing Osbourne’s tracks at the event.
