Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson is preparing for emergency procedure after warning her babies ‘could die’

Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson has shared she is preparing for an emergency procedure after being warned her twin babies could die.

In January, Nelson, who originally left the girl group in 2020, revealed to fans that she is pregnant in a social media post with her partner Zion Foster. Alongside a picture of the couple, the singer hinted that she is expecting twins as she wrote: “She’s eating for 3 now.”

Today (March 8), Nelson posted a video with Foster explaining that she is preparing for an emergency procedure after being told it would give her twins the “best chance of surviving.”

The singer had previously disclosed her battle with “pre-stage” twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), which impacts identical twins who share a placenta.

In the video she said:”I’ve been feeling a bit poorly, like the past few days, been having a few of the symptoms that I need to watch out for, which is like my belly tightening, struggle breathing.

“So today we came into the hospital to just have a check-up, basically, just in case. And unfortunately, the symptoms have got worse, so they have to perform the procedure, which is obviously not what we wanted to happen, but it’s necessary because it’s going to give our babies the best chance of surviving.

“We’re just waiting to go in and we’re just hoping and praying for the best really.”

Although Nelson did not give any details of what the procedure would involve, she explained its importance despite the risks involved: “That’s why they do this procedure, so that it literally gives you the best chance of your baby surviving, but it’s obviously just really scary, because there’s so many things that can happen.”

Nelson quit the girl group after reasoning that the band had taken a “toll” on her mental health. Though the girl group continued as a trio after her abscence, they announced they were taking a “little break” to focus on each member’s respective solo projects once their ‘Confetti’ tour ended in 2022.

The singer released her first solo single, ‘Boyz’, featuring Nicki Minaj, in 2021, followed by ‘Bad Thing’ in 2023.

Other former members of Little Mix, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Ann Pinnock, both had children in 2021. Edwards had a son with footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Pinnock welcomed twins.
