Fontaines D.C.‘s Grian Chatten has sent a message to the children who went viral for their cover of the band’s song ‘Starburster‘.
A video clip went viral of two kids in a house singing along to the lead single of the Dublin rocker’s latest album ‘Romance’. Equipped with white microphones and flashing lights, the kids sing: “I’m gon’ hit your business if it’s momentary blissness” along with the song’s iconic gasp. One of the two kids takes the time to show off his dance moves while jumping and spinning on the floor.
Now, the Fontaines frontman has shared a lovely message to the boys in the video. While on Aindriú & Taran on RTE2FM, Chatten sent in a voice message to Dylan, one of the two kids in the clip and said: “How are you Dylan, rockstar. Grian Here. Just wanted to say I saw your video online and I think your singing and your dancing is absolutely amazing. And, keep it up and you’ll put me out of a job soon.”
Last summer, ‘Romance’ arrived and marked their fourth album, and first with their new label XL Recordings. In a glowing five-star review of the James Ford-produced record, NME wrote: “‘Romance’ offers moments of wonder and gravity while also feeling occasionally foreboding.”
Elsewhere, Fontaines D.C. have been nominated for International Group Of The Year at this year’s edition of the BRITs. Recently, Pete Doherty shared his love for the band, sharing that there are “really good acts coming out of Ireland”.
While speaking to NME as part of the In Conversation series, Doherty shared: “Obviously they’re very well known now. They’ve got a few tunes. I was listening to them in the car and listening to ‘Starburster’. Somehow it had passed me by. I knew about it but hadn’t actually heard it. I listened to it all the way through a couple of times, and it’s just a belter of a tune.”
