After serving as the official hypeman for the 2024 Olympic women’s water-polo team, Flavor Flav has set out on a new mission: to carry the torch during the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Flav discussed his monumental summer at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday’s episode of the Politickin’ podcast hosted by California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom, former NFL star Marshawn Lynch, and agent Doug Hendrickson. When asked what part of the experience surprised him the most, the Public Enemy veteran replied that “energy wise” being there was a “dream come true.” He added, “It’s like, wow, I’m finally here, and I’m finally getting to really experience and see this in real life with my own eyes, and being in that moment.” He quipped, “I ain’t going to lie, man, the Super Bowl — it’s exciting going to the Super Bowl, but this was a little bit more exciting.”
Later in the interview he revealed that he’s already put in his bid to be one of the 2028 torchbearers. “Guess what? I got a feeling I might be one of them,” he said. “I put my bid in already. I said, ‘If Snoop can carry the torch in Paris — come on, man — Flav can carry that bad boy in L.A.,’ and Snoop did a fantastic job, man.”
Snoop Dogg, who was part of NBC’s Olympic coverage at this year’s games, also helped usher in the 2024 Summer Olympics as a torchbearer ahead of the games’ opening ceremony in Paris.

Flav praised Snoop Dogg on Wednesday’s podcast: “He rocked. Even though they did pay him a half-a-million a day, Snoop got a nice payday out there, besides the payday, he did a good job and I know that man had a lot of fun out there. Mad big ups to you, Snoop.”
When speaking to Rolling Stone, prior to hopping on a flight to Paris to support the Olympic women’s water-polo team, Flav said, “If everything goes well, I’ll be doing this for the next five years into the next Olympics. He added, “I might even do it for another five.”
