Finn Wolfhard adapting a biopic about The Replacements with his father

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard is reportedly adapting a biopic about The Replacements with his father and producer Rich Peete for the big screen.

According to Variety, the three are adapting Bob Mehr’s best-selling biography Trouble Boys: The True Story Of The Replacements for a film. The Wolfhards are co-writing the screenplay, the outlet said, with Peete on board to produce via his company Neighbourhood Watch.

The biography was published in 2016 and details the early days of The Replacements in Minnesota, to their influence of American alt-rock and the punk scene.

Wolfhard had also previously revealed he was working with his father on a project, but the details were kept secret.

“I’ve been writing a lot of music and writing this movie with my dad, which has been really amazing,” Wolfhard told the outlet. “It’s about a band that I think weirdly I have a lot in common with, a lot of the members. I can’t really talk about the actual band because I don’t have the rights officially yet.”

Wolfhard worked with Peete recently on A24’s The Legend Of Ochi, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year.  Wolfhard is no stranger to writing or directing either, having co-directed, co-wrote, and co-produced the recent horror Hell Of A Summer.

Back in July, Wolfhard announced his ‘Objection!’ UK and European tour for this year.

Wolfhard released his debut solo album ‘Happy Birthday’ in June, following his work fronting the band Calpurnia and The Aubreys.

Along with the nostalgic, jangly lead single ‘Choose The Latter’, Wolfhard also released the wistful indie rock track ‘Trailers After Dark’ in the lead-up to the album.

Wolfhard will emabrk on the ‘Objection!’ around the UK and Europe. Kicking off in Paris’ Maroquinerie tomorrow, on October 4. He will travel through Berlin, Manchester, Dublin and more, before playing a final show at London’s Electric Brixton (October 16). You can find any remaining tickets here.
