Fifth Harmony are reportedly in discussions to reform as a four-piece without Camila Cabello.
According to unnamed sources “familiar with the matter”, per The Hollywood Reporter, the girl group are looking to return in 2026 after going on indefinite hiatus in 2018. Camila Cabello left the group in 2016 to focus on her solo career.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the group’s reunion will coincide with the 10th anniversary of their sophomore album ‘7/27’ and the hit song ‘Work From Home’. They will also reportedly work on a documentary chronicling their return, and a yet-to-be-announced tour.
This is far from the first time rumours surrounding the girl group’s return have been swirling. Back in October 2023, member Ally Brooke teased to E! News that they were “working on something”.
In June last year, Normani addressed the rumours head on, saying when asked if there was any weight to Brooke’s claims: “I don’t know. Not to my knowledge. But I definitely see that being a possibility in the future. That would be a special moment for sure.”
Her comments on a potential Fifth Harmony reunion came shortly after the singer revealed that she had “suppressed” some memories from her time with group: “There’s so much that I don’t even remember because I suppressed it. That’s just my way of protecting myself from having to deal with everything. But what I do remember is that it wasn’t all bad. Like yeah, we struggled, but it was also really beautiful in what we accomplished together.”
In 2018, Cabello revealed why she left Fifth Harmony, suggesting that she was “shut out” by her bandmates because she wanted to work on a solo album while still remaining in the group.
“I was just curious and I wanted to learn and I saw all these people around me making music, writing songs and being so free,” Cabello said. “I just wanted to do that and it did not work.”
She then went on to say that she was issued an ultimatum: “It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time. If anyone wants to explore their individuality, it’s not right for people to tell you no.”
Since the group went on hiatus, all four remaining members of Fifth Harmony have explored solo careers, with Normani releasing her long-awaited debut album ‘Dopamine’ in June last year.
The album scored a four-star review from Nick Levine, who wrote for NME: “It’s typical of an album that shimmers with a cool, calm and yes, unhurried confidence. It may have taken six years, but ‘Dopamine’ sounds like the (damn) album Normani was meant to make all long.”
