Faye Webster, MJ Lenderman, Modest Mouse Lead 90-Track Album to Benefit L.A. Fire Relief

For $20, fans can get 90 songs from some of their favorite artists — and it’ll benefit a good cause. On Tuesday, Good Music announced Good Music to Lift Up Los Angeles, a 90-track compilation album featuring Mac DeMarco, Faye Webster, and MJ Lenderman, set to benefit the victims of the L.A. fires.

Also featured on the record are Dawes (members of the band lost their homes to the fires), the Postal Service + Death Cab for Cutie, R.E.M., the War on Drugs, Madi Diaz, Modest Mouse, Courtney Barnett, Soccer Mommy, Jeff Tweedy, Blondshell, Neko Case, Theo Katzman, and many more.

“We only had a few weeks to put this compilation together and are absolutely humbled by the contributions,” said Good Music co-founder Jordan Kurland in a statement. “Music is a healing force and we hope this collection of songs, in addition to raising much-needed recovery funds, provides some solace.”

The compilation album will include previously unreleased recordings, including new songs, live versions, demos, and covers. The Postal Service + Death Cab for Cutie will include their live cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence.” The album’s cover art was designed by Cleon Peterson, an Altadena-based artist who lost his home and studio in the Eaton Fire.

The album will only be available for sale on Bandcamp on Feb. 7 at 12 a.m. for 24 hours and for $20.25, with Bandcamp donating 100 percent of their share of album sales to MusiCares.

The net proceeds of the album are set to benefit the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
