Every Song From Jin’s Second Solo Album ‘Echo,’ Ranked

In a swift follow-up to Jin’s debut solo album, Happy, released just six months ago, BTS‘ global superstar and resident rock enthusiast returns with Echo. Released on May 19, the seven-track journey explores more of the rock-influenced soundscapes that have shaped his musical identity, for deeper stories that can resonate on a more human level.

Where Happy featured stadium-ready cameos from Take That‘s Gary Barlow and ONE OK ROCK‘s Taka and Toru, Echo opts for a more intimate approach, favoring some longtime collaborators alongside some new faces — who help Jin explore a range of rock subgenres without diluting his own voice. The result is an album that feels both personal and expansive, anchored by Jin’s songwriting contributions on four of the seven tracks.

From Arcades helping bring orchestral strings and Brit-rock guitars of “Nothing Without Your Love” to the fairy-tale sweep of Japanese-inspired rock on “With the Clouds” — co-crafted by Radwimps‘ frontman Yojiro Noda — Jin masterfully adapts his vocal tone and storytelling approach to each genre and style. On the more experimental moments, he flexes a pop-punk attitude on “Loser” with K-pop diva YENA and embraces a country-rock swagger on “Rope It.” Throughout it all, Jin reinforces themes of companionship, self-discovery and the bittersweet ironies of love, with a record that uplifts, comforts, and empowers listeners long after the final note.

To celebrate the album, Jin will soon hit The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and, later this spring, will embark on his first solo world tour, #RunSeokJin_EP.Tour, with stops across Asia, Europe, and the U.S. — all proof that Echo’s resonance is only just beginning.

As Jin gets another chance to reach listeners as a soloist with seven new tracks on his sophomore record, here are Billboard’s rankings of the Echo songs.
