The Chris Ashbrook-directed music video begins with member Annie Lennox giving a business meeting to Dave Stewart in a conference room while dressed in a sleek androgynous suit, chanting the instantly-recognizable opening chorus: “Sweet dreams are made of this/ Who am I to disagree?/ I travel the world and the seven seas/ Everybody’s looking for something.” The musical duo then meditate from the conference room and teleport into a colorful dream world. In their fantasy land, they play instruments in a farm amid a herd of cows.

“Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” was the final single and title track of the group’s 1983 sophomore album. On the Billboard charts, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, and peaked at No. 2 on the Dance Club Songs tally. It was certified gold in the U.S. by the RIAA and led to a number of popular covers including ones by Swing and Marilyn Manson.
