“I was on set and I was having the best time, and I’m like ‘Can I work here?'” bassist tells Watch What Happens
Este Haim revealed more details about her music consultant gig on the second season of The White Lotus during the Haim sisters’ visit to Watch What Happens.
Back in 2023, it was revealed that the bassist-singer spent time on the Sicily set of the hit HBO series. As Este told Andy Cohen, the surprise job arose with the band on hiatus due to Covid and Este reeling from a breakup.
“I had gone through a really shitty breakup and I’m friends with one of the producers on the show… I picked up the phone when he called. I was bawling. He’s like, ‘We’re not doing this anymore, you’re coming to Sicily,’” Este said.
“I was on set and I was having the best time, and I’m like ‘Can I work here?’ to my friend, the producer. And I got the job.”
Este Haim was placed in the role of “on-camera music consultant” and worked with the two actors who played singers on the show, Beatrice Grannò and Federico Scribani.

“I was helping them learn the songs, do the songs, emote to the camera… Honestly, I basically just grifted my way to the show. Real talk,” she said. “[Haim] couldn’t tour. We basically had three months off, so my idea was ‘I should just stay [in Sicily].’ But I needed to be doing something.”
In previous interviews about her surprise side job, Este called herself the “director of fun” while on set, throwing parties for the actors while they all filmed on location. “We’d go to that bar in the hotel, and I would plug in my computer and DJ to the wee hours of the night,” Este told W in 2003. “There was a screen and a projector, and we would karaoke. Then there were nights where we’d just sit around the piano and drink and sing songs.”
