ENHYPEN’s ‘THE SIN : VANISH’: Every Song Ranked

Produced By: Pat Morrissey

Written By: Pat Morrissey, Micah Premnath, Grant Averill, David Charles Fischer, Kim Suji (lalala studio), ARMADILLO, Peridot, Cho Yun Kyoung, KIM INHYEONG, Youra (Full8loom), Im Suran (lalala studio), Park Sang Yoo (153/Joombas))

Smoky and scuzzy in all the right ways, “No Way Back” is a dramatic, alternative-R&B piece that builds from a whispered opening into a dreamily tense climax. Featuring the lead singer of Korean indie rock band SE SO NEON, So!YoON! melds her otherworldly vocals with ENHYPEN’s falsettos to create an uncanny, perfect musical match made clear from the first time she blends with JUNGWON on the first chorus.

While it can be tough to find one voice to blend with a seven-member boy band, the collaboration feels incredibly organic after ENHYPEN has teamed up with the likes of JVKE, YEONJUN of TXT, Ava Max, Flo Rida, and Bella Thorne. On “No Way Back,” So!YoON! feels like a kindred (dark) spirit with the ENHYPEN guys on the haunting track with lyrics of lovers who realize there is truly “no way back now.”

Like a majority of the songs on THE SIN : VANISH, “No Way Back” feels like it couldn’t have existed if ENHYPEN had not grown into the artists they are today. It’s not a made-for-radio smash a la “Bite Me,” “Sweet Venom” or even VANISH single “Knife,” but pulls in listeners with its waves of gloss and grit, swaying through different textures, feelings and vibrations for a stirring experience that will resonate long after first listen.
