Last night (November 12), the Songwriters Hall of Fame announced its list of nominees for the class of 2025. The nominees have been split into two categories: performing and non-performing songwriters. A total of 26 nominees have been listed as part of both categories, though only six will be awarded the honour; three from each category.

Besides Eminem, Janet Jackson and Boy George, other nominees in the performing songwriters list are N.W.A., Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Bryan Adams, George Clinton and more.

Among the non-performing nominees are Mike Chapman, Sonny Curtis, Franne Golde, Rodney Jerkins, Roger Nichols and more.

Eligible voting members have up till December 22 to cast their votes, with the inductees expected to be announced sometime in the new year. The six inductees will be honoured at the 2025 Induction & Awards Gala in New York City in June.

In a three-star review of Eminem’s latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’, NME wrote: “Much more powerful is ‘Temporary’, a genuinely moving ode to his daughter, Hailie, which proves Marshall Mathers can say something that matters when he wants to.

“So, who killed Slim Shady? In bringing him back to the light and showing him up as irrelevant, perhaps Eminem’s done his old pal in for good. OK, we get it – Shady was a shocking character. Now that he’s dead, how about getting some new material?”
