Emily Ratajkowski has revealed that she’s “disgusted” by the recent space flight that featured Katy Perry – see what she had to say below.

Yesterday (April 14), Katy Perry made history as one of the six women involved in the first-ever all-female space expedition since Valentina Tereshkova embarked on a solo flight and became the first woman in space in 1963.

Others included in the mission, organised by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, were former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, Gayle King, and Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez. The journey was the 11th human flight for the company’s New Shepard programme and lasted around 11 minutes.

Following Perry’s safe return to Earth, model and actress Emily Ratajkowski took to social media to share her thoughts on the expedition. While Ratajkowski didn’t throw the blame directly at Perry or her fellow participants, she slammed the mission in a TikTok video, question what good the mission did.

“That space mission this morning? That’s end time shit. Like, this is beyond parody. That you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s singlehandedly destroying the planet?”

Ratajkowski went on to ask: “Look at the state of the world. Think about how many resources went into putting these women into space… For what? What was the marketing there?” She concluded her rant by saying how “disgusted” she is by the whole thing.

Ratajkowski isn’t the only person to have condemned the mission. Following the spacecraft’s return, actor-director Oliva Wilde appeared to throw shade at the space flight, writing in an Instagram Story: “Billion dollars bought some good memes I guess.”

Prior to the space launch, actor Olivia Munn criticised the mission: “What are they doing? I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now. I know this is probably obnoxious, but like, it’s so much money to go to space, and there are a lot of people who can’t even afford eggs.”

She also described it as “gluttonous”, and questioned what they are “gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here”.

Following their return to Earth, Gayle King revealed the Perry sung in space, performing a cover of Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’ while in orbit. Explaining why she chose to sing that song, Perry said: “I’ve covered that song in the past and obviously my higher self has always steered the ship because I had no clue that I’d decide to sing a little bit of that in space.

“I think that it’s not about me or singing my songs, it’s about a collective energy. It’s about us [and] making space for future women. It’s about this wonderful world we see right out there and appreciating it.”

In other news, Katy Perry is set to embark on her 2025 ‘Lifetimes’ tour later this year, marking her first tour in seven years. The dates come in celebration of her seventh studio album ‘143’, which was shared last September. Visit here for tickets.
