The couple first sparked rumours of their engagement over the Christmas holidays, when the singer very casually posted pictures of herself sporting a ring in a photo dump on Instagram.
Fans immediately began flooding her comment section asking they were engaged, but the singer has remain tight-lipped on the matter until now. Speaking to British Vogue for a new cover story, the ‘Don’t Start Now’ singer finally broke the news: “Yeah, we’re engaged.”
She continued: “It’s very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever—it’s a really special feeling.” Dua then revealed that Callum Turner had the engagement ring custom-made for her after consulting her sister and closest friends: “I’m obsessed with it. It’s so me. It’s nice to know the person that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well.”
However, the couple haven’t locked in a date for the wedding as they’re currently facing packed schedules: Dua Lipa’s currently in the midst of her ‘Radical Optimism’ tour that’s due to wrap in December, while Turner’s filming for the upcoming Apple TV+ series Neuromancer.
“I want to finish my tour, Callum’s shooting, so we’re just enjoying this period,” Dua told British Vogue. “I’ve never been someone who’s really thought about a wedding, or dreamt about what kind of bride I would be. All of a sudden I’m like: ‘Oh, what would I wear?’”
The couple began dating in January 2024 after being introduced to each other at a cafe in London years prior. They’ve made several public appearances and social media posts together since they began dating.
Before she can start focusing on her wedding, she will be returning to the UK for even more live shows next week, kicking off the run with two huge concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 20, 21) followed by two dates at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 24 and 25. The tour is in support of her third studio album ‘Radical Optimism‘. In a three-star review of the LP, NME shared: “She’s since referred to that key group of collaborators as ‘the band’, highlighting a shared cohesiveness and understanding of the mood. Swooning opener ‘End Of An Era’ demonstrates that well, and ‘Anything For Love’, featuring studio chatter from the crew, suggests this album has been made with care and, you can tell, a lot of fun.”
In other Dua Lipa-related news, Miley Cyrus earlier this month revealed that their 2020 collaboration ‘Prisoner’ wasn’t her idea: “No shade to Dua Lipa, it just isn’t cohesive with the album. She would’ve been much better on ‘Endless Summer Vacation’, like she would’ve been great on ‘Wildcard’ or ‘River’ – could you imagine?”
She added that Dua’s presence on the track was “medicinal,” explaining that her team was trying to “salvage a sinking career” because they weren’t happy with the direction of the record.
“They were like, ‘Uh-oh, this was not what we had in mind to un-sink this ship,’” Miley jokes. “They were like, ‘Oh great, here’s this, like, pile of shit album she gave us, let’s spray some Dua Lipa [on it], that’ll make it better.’” The two have not worked together since that collaboration, which later appeared on the re-released version of Lipa’s ‘Future Nostalgia‘ in 2021.
