Dua Lipa Closes MSG Run With ‘It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over’ Duet With Lenny Kravitz

The pop star hosted four shows at Madison Square Garden on the Radical Optimism tour

Dua Lipa made herself at home at Madison Square Garden for four nights on the Radical Optimism tour. Each night, the pop star continued her tradition of honoring local legends during the cover song portion of her set. It just so happened that NYC had some of the coolest ones, who also happened to be in the neighborhood to join her on stage. On Sunday, Lenny Kravitz made a surprise appearance to perform “It Ain’t Over ’Til It’s Over.”

“When I go back to thinking about New York artists, and artists and music that shaped my life, I think about this one song in particular that really helped me fall in love with music,” Lipa told the crowd in her introduction. “New York’s just got such an unbelievably cool energy. But the artist that sings this song, afraid to say, might be a little cooler. And he’s here tonight for a treat for our last night in New York City. Don’t say I don’t do anything nice for you guys. New York, give it up for New York’s own, Lenny Kravitz.”

Kravitz played guitar and traded verses with Lipa for the first half of “It Ain’t Over ’Til It’s Over.” They brought it home with a soulful grand finale before the veteran musician made his exit after bowing down to the singer.

During her first two nights at MSG, Lipa performed Alicia Keys’ “No One” and Blondie’s “One Way or Another,” respectively. “Here in New York, I’m actually spoiled with the choice,” Lipa told the crowd before covering Blondie. But the crowds for her final two shows at the iconic venue lucked up. On Saturday, her local legend of choice was Nile Rodgers, who took the stage with her to perform “Le Freak.”

The Radical Optimism tour continues on Friday in Miami.
