Drake fans go viral for “genuinely dystopian” gig signs asking him for money

Photos from Drake‘s recent shows in Australia have gone viral for various fans asking the rapper for money.

The ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker is no stranger to gifting a few lucky concert attendees with money. Last March, Drake gifted a pregnant woman at his gig $25,000 after she asked the rapper to be her “rich baby daddy.”

Back in 2023, while on tour, he gave $50,000 to two fans on separate occasions. One was to a fan who held a sign that read he had spent all his “furniture money” on tickets for his Las Vegas shows and the other was a man who had just been dumped.

Now, a photo taken of Drake at his show in Sydney has gone viral. In it, the ‘God’s Plan’ rapper is standing on stage wearing an all-red ensemble looking out into the crowd. A handful of concert-goers are holding posters with the majority of the signs asking the rapper for money.

“Do they like his music or are they all just there begging for money?” wrote one user on Twitter while another shared: “Honestly, this is gross. If you want to improve your life, don’t spend it on a concert ticket and then beg for money… smh.”

Another user went on to ask for some kind of explanation for a particular sign.“’DRAKE GIVE MY FATHER A BREAK’ wtf do you mean by that 😭😭???” they wrote. A different user shared their concern for one of the fan’s dog after reading their sign that asked the rapper to help pay their vet bill. “Dog is at home suffering,” they wrote.

During his recent tour of Australia, Drake handed out money to a fan who was holding a sign that shared she was 20 weeks pregnant while performing at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

A clip of the moment showed the moment in which he told security to “get her out of there” and upgrade her to VIP and give her “like $30,000”.

In other news, Drake was recently announced as this year’s Wireless Festival headliner, which will see him take over the prime spot at all three nights of the annual London music bash.
