Don’t Look Back In Anger’ doc getting eight minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival

Oasis‘s new documentary Don’t Look Back In Anger received an eight-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival last night (September 5).

Noel and Liam Gallagher made their first off-stage public appearance in Italy together since the band reunited, appearing at the premiere and for the photocall beforehand.

The film centres on the band’s 2024 reunion and huge ‘Live ‘25’ tour dates. It is produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace (Meet Me In The Bathroom).

At the end of the screening, the Gallaghers soaked up the applause while holding hands and raising them triumphantly. At one point, Noel even appeared to be wiping tears from his eyes, while Liam was later seen eyeing his watch and mouthing, “Should we fuck off?” before Knight convinced them to stay. You can view footage below.

They then descended into the crowd to sign autographs, according to Variety.

Earlier the duo, arrived at the film festival on a small boat before posing for pictures. But they left before the press conference, which was instead attended by Knight, Southern and Lovelace.

NME gave Don’t Look Back in Anger four-and-a-half stars, in a review which called the documentary “masterfully done”.

“The impact of the band has never been clearer than over these two hours – as Liam puts it in the final moments, “Oasis saves” – as it reclaims the narrative around them and relives one of the most momentous, miraculous tours of modern times. By the end, you’ll be itching to do it all over again – and maybe, just maybe, we might,” we wrote.

The trailer for the documentary dropped back in July, featuring interview clips with the brothers and shots of their giant arena audiences cheering.

The documentary will be released in cinemas, including IMAX screens, worldwide for a limited theatrical run from September 9, while it will stream on Disney+ around the world, and on Disney+ alongside Hulu in the US, from a later date in 2026.

Meanwhile, the UK premiere will take place on Monday (September 7) at Cineworld Leicester Square in London.

Noel also praised his brother amid the release of their new documentary describing him as “delightful” – a word he conceded he “never would have thought” he’d say about him.

Elsewhere, Oasis are reportedly planning a huge 2027 UK and Europe tour – including a rumoured shows at Knebworth and a huge 12-night Manchester residency at the Etihad Stadium.

Rumours surrounding a return to Knebworth gained pace when the promoter of the ‘Live ‘25’ tour was granted a licence to host gigs there last month, while Noel himself hinted at the possibility, saying that “we’ve got to do something in the summer” as there isn’t a men’s football tournament happening.

Oasis have also shared a few cryptic videos, with fans speculating they are hinting at shows in Glasgow and Manchester.
