Donnie Wahlberg to Star in New Drama Series ‘Boston Blue’

Donnie Wahlberg is heading back to TV.

CBS announced on Tuesday (Feb. 18) a new drama series with the working title Boston Blue, which will star the New Kids on the Block member, for the 2025-26 broadcast season. The show will expand on the popular, long-running show, Blue Bloods, in which Wahlberg appears as NYPD officer Danny Reagan. Wahlberg was nominated for a People’s Choice Award in 2017 for favorite TV crime drama actor for his portrayal of Reagan.

Wahlberg will reprise his role in the series, where he’ll take a new position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family, per a press release.

A premiere date has yet to be announced for Boston Blue. The show is produced by CBS Studios in association with JBTV. Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis will serve as showrunner and executive producers, alongside fellow executive producers Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed and Wahlberg.

In other Wahlberg news, the star recent appeared in a hilarious Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial  titled DunKings 2: The Movie, alongside fellow Bostonians Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck and Jeremy Strong. Watch it here.
